Have you ever been in a conversation with someone talking about a subject that they apparently know very little about. Somehow, however, they speak with conviction and authority about the subject. You stand there and wonder if they really listen to what they are saying or if they read a headline to an article or the introduction to a book and that's all they needed to become an authority.
Recently I was reading a posts about the authority of the Bible to contain real truth. The person was adamant that because the Bible was written by a man for men that it would be impossible for it to contain God's true words. Others chimed in to the on-line conversation with agreement or mild skepticism. It was appartent that most if not all the comments were coming from individuals personal opinions about the Bible and not the result of investigation and study of God's Word. As Christians, we must respond to such conversations by pointing people to the Word and allow them to read it for themselves if they chose. We can engage them in conversation or in this case comments about the error of their opinion as it relates to God's Word. We know that as Christians we are called to share the Gospel message but it is God himself who converts the heart of unbelievers.
For us to share, we must study! Will you be able to share with others what God has to say in His Word?
