The other day, someone asked me how my family deals with Halloween since we are Christians. I told him that our kids dress up in customes and go out with the rest of the children in our neighborhood to trick or treat. We allow them to choose customes like princesses, quite animals and the like. Quite frankly, our daughters like to dress up anytime and for them, Halloween is no different. I have heard many people say that Christians should have nothing to do with Halloween. It is supposedly the devil's day or his birthday. I was reminded of Psalm 24:1, "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it..."
Everything in the world belongs to God. He created everything including the day in which Halloween is celebrated as Psalm 118:24 teaches us. It is true that Satan as perverted what God made for our benefit, but we as Christian should not turn any day over to Satan. He does not own it, he did not create.
I do recognize that demons do exist in the spritual realm and we as Christians should not deny their existence. But they exist each and everyday. In our celebration, we do nothing to glamorize or glorify demons.
We as Christians should celebrate the day. For some, it is Reformation Day, the day in 1517 that, according to hisotry, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg protesting the sale of indulgences by the church. This sparked the Protestant Reformation.
Let's celebrate the day and tell somebody that God made it and we can have fun and rejoice in it.

As a little girl, I loved dressing up and eating candy (only the candies that my parents bought for me). As I've gotten older, I Halloween is just an excuse for people to dress up and acts crazy for lack of a better word. I've never thought of Halloween in context with the Bible. I really like the scripture references in Psalm 24:1 & 118:24. You've definitely given me something to think about and to use in reference not only with Halloween, but in everyday life!
