Fostering Relationships

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
— Proverbs 17:17

Most of us don't use the term "friend" lightly. We know that to be a true friend requires loyalty, honesty and dependability. While we expect our friends to be all these things and more, the unspoken part of this is it requires investment in that friend.

If you have a house plant and you want it to survive, you must invest time in the plant. You must first know the type of plant and what its needs are. You don't put a plant that likes indirect light in a sunny window. you need to know how much water and fertilizer it needs. You need to take care of the plant.

Just as with plants, our friends need us to invest time. Have you reached out to a friend lately to have lunch or talk when you don't need something? Have you offered some help to a friend?

Your efforts to foster your relationships will not go unappreciated.
